Itinerary

Day 1: Muscat Airport - Muscat

  • Meeting at Muscat Airport and transfer to your 3* hotel.
  • Short rest before the tour of Muscat to the Great Mosque. Built by Sultan Qaboos in the 1990, Qabos mosque is one of the most important in the Gulf.
  • Visit the fish market and Muttrah Souk.
  • After a quick lunch, we embark onboard a Dhow excursion for dolphins watching. Here in the Gulf of Oman, you can see lots of dolphins and whales who migrate from October to May.
  • Accommodation at a Hotel.

 

Day 2: Muscat - Wadi Shab - Beach Camp

  • Transfer along the coast to the most beautiful valleys in Oman, Wadi Shab. There are many natural hidden pools ideal for swimming. Only 1 hour walk to reach the top of the water caves.
  • Tent camp in Sandy Beach close to Wadi Tiwi.
  • Accommodation: Camp.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

 

Day 3: Wadi Tiwi - Dhow Artisanal Construction Port - Ras al Hadd

  • Starting by Wadi Tiwi. Visit and walk in the oasis before you go down and continue along the coast to the City of Sur, where we stop for a fresh fruit juice and to visit the site of the artisanal Dhows construction.
  • Departure toward our accommodation seaside at Ras al Hadd.
  • In the evening, turtle watching with a local reserve guide at Ras Al Jinz.
  • Driving time approx. 30mins.
  • Accommodation: Hotel.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
  • Walking time: 1 hour

 

Day 4: Walk in the Wadi Bani Khalid

  • After breakfast we leave the coast and transfer during 1 hour through the red rock formations and mountains to Wadi Bani Khalid.
  • The walk today is more complex due to the ascents and steep descents of the valley; however, our guide sets pace with enough breaks in to enjoy the oasis and the hidden natural pools around every corner of the valley. There will be time to take baths in the natural pools which are fuelled by a natural source.
  • We will take advantage of the palm tree shadows to have a picnic lunch. You will enjoy the beautiful views in the way back.
  • When we are ready, we return to our vehicle and drive back about 45min towards our accommodation.
  • Accommodation: Hotel.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
  • Walking time: 2 to 3 hours.

 

Day 5: Wahiba Sands

  • Going to Wahiba sands. After 30 minutes, we arrive to Wahiba desert and here you will experience a 4X4 tour through the sand dunes. The Wahibas stretch on some 140 kilometers per 80 kilometers; this is a real Desert in Arabia.  Dunes peaks at over 150 meters from camps and the Bedouins scattered among the dunes with camels or sheep’s.
  • Our camp is close to the Bedouins, you will be delighted by the Sun-set. 
  • At night in the desert camp, it is time to relax watching millions of stars.
  • Accommodation: Camp.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
  • Walking time: 1 hour.

There is the possibility to explore the dunes by camels; this is organized by the Bedouins (extra payment is required).

 

Day 6: The City Oasis of Nizwa

  • After Sun-rise, we continue with our 4X4 tour to Nizwa approximately from 2 to 3 hours. Nizwa was the old Capital of Oman, known for its nice Fort from the 17th Century and its goldsmiths market.
  • Lunch and then we have the rest of the afternoon free to explore the city. Nizwa is surrounded by the higher Omani mountains. You can visit the restored Fort and walk along the upper section of the Walls.
  • For dinner we go to a local restaurant.

Day 7: Abandoned Village - Misfah

  • Leaving the Oasis of Nizwa we go back to the slopes of the Jebel Al Hajar and the Jebel Akhdar. The highest point here Is Jebel Shams (Sun Mountain) about 3000m.
  • On arrival at Village Al Kateen, we will go to one of most amazing trails in Oman to the abandoned Village. Beyond the Village, we can see the traditional farms and terraces that inhabitants used to produce their food.
  • Picnic and then you go along to the Balcony to enjoy nice views.
  • Departure with vehicles to the traditional Mountain Village of Misfah Al Abryeen, one of the most beautiful villages in Oman.
  • We have time to explore the Village and take the coffee and talk to the local villagers.
  • Driving time approximately: 1hours and 30 minutes.
  • Accommodation: Guest House.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
  • Walking time: 3 to 4 hours.

 

Day 8: Misfah - Muscat

  • Your last morning in Oman. Short walk through the cultivated terraces and the rocky jebels to learn about the fashion life traditional inhabitants of the Hajar Mountains.
  • Walking around in the Oasis along the irrigation system called "Falaj".
  • In afternoon we take our vehicles to Muscat approximately from 1 to 2hours.
  • Accommodation: Hotel.
  • Meals: Breakfast and Lunch.
  • Walking time: 1 to 2 hours.

 

Day 9: Muscat Airport

  • Transfer to Airport.
