The Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is a salt lake bordered by Jordan to the East and Israel and the West Bank to the West. It lies in the Jordan Rift Valley, and the Jordan River is the only major water source flowing into the Dead Sea.

Its surface and shores are 430.5 meters (1,412 ft) below sea level, Earth's lowest elevation on land. 9.6 times as salty as the ocean water, it is one of the world's saltiest bodies of water; because its salinity you can float in the Dead Sea without even trying, which makes swimming here a truly unique experience not to be missed. This unique place has extremely high content of salts and minerals which gives its waters the curative powers and therapeutic qualities recognized for more than 2000 years ago.
