Wadi Araba / Yitzhak Rabin Crossing

Location: In the south of Jordan, 324km away from Amman and near Aqaba; on the Israeli side, it is near Eilat. The two cities are Red Sea resorts.

Visas: Despite the information provided on official channels, visas to Jordan are issued at this crossing and are free as part of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority. A minimum stay of three nights in Jordan will exempt you from paying the visa (40JOD) and the departure tax, if you leave Jordan from the same crossing or from another point in Aqaba. In that case, your visa fees will be waived off, without the need to show a Jordan Pass at your arrival. However, if you spend less than 3 nights in Jordan and cross back to Israel, you will need to pay the visa and exit fees. These rules apply only to the Wadi Araba crossing.If you wish to extend the visa obtained at Wadi Araba crossing, then you will need to pay the 40JOD fee. The visa extension is provided in Amman as well, not only in Aqaba.

Exit fees: 10 JDs (around US$15) to leave Jordan towards Israel; 102 NIS (Around US$30) to leave Israel towards Jordan. A minimum stay of three nights in Jordan exempts tourists from paying the departure tax of 10 JOD when they leave Jordan via the Wadi Araba crossing.

Transport: 

In Jordan: You must take a taxi from the crossing until Aqaba. From there, buses are available to Amman or Petra.

In Israel: there is no public transportation to or from the crossing and travellers can use taxis from Eilat or private cars.
